
Description
This course teaches participants how to provide basic first aid in an emergency situation. It is designed for anyone who may not need the more detailed 2 day ‘Senior First Aid’ course.
The course is delivered under the Australian Quality Training framework and is nationally recognised.

Qualification Outline
The course covers:
* The principles of First Aid and its application
* Legal issues
* CPR with Defibrillation information
* Broken bones, dislocations, sprains and strains
* Treatment of wounds, infection, shock, burns and bleeding
* Treatment of poisoning including venomous bites and stings
* Reporting of accidents

Pre requisites
There are no formal prerequisities, however, participants should be over 14 years of age.

Accreditation
Upon successful completion of the training, participants will obtain a nationally accredited Statement of Attainment in the following units of competence:
* HLTFA201A Provide Basic Emergency Life Support
Validity
Apply Basic Emergency Care is valid for 3 years. It is a recommendation of the Australian Resuscitation Council that the CPR component is updated every 12 months
